Book Hauls

Christmas Book Haul

I was very luck to receive some lovely books as Christmas gifts, and also got some time to spend a book voucher so, here’s my list of books I’ve received/bought this festive period…

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: Screenplay by JK Rowling

I’ve not seen the movie yet, but I’m that person who likes to read the book first anyway. So I’m excited to read JK Rowling’s work in this different format.

The Wonder by Emma Donoghue

This book just seemed so interesting! Such an interesting plot-line, where all the lines are blurred. It seemed quite similar to the work of Aimee Bender, which I liked. I loved Room, but haven’t read any other books of hers so I’m excited to see how this turns out.

A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness

This book has had a lot of press recently because of the movie. I’ve read a few Ness books by now and have felt they were a bit of a mixed bag, so I’m hoping to enjoy this one.

The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley

I’ve had my eye on this one for quite a while, even including it in my Top Ten Tuesday – Books I Want to Buy post back in August. I finally bit the bullet and bought the book. I was reading The Night Circus recently and loved the character of the Watchmaker in that novel, so I think that was a little bit of a catalyst.

Britt-Marie was Here by Fredrik Backman

As you will no doubt remember, My Grandmother… was one of my favourite books from this year. Britt-Marie is a character in that book, so I was definitely curious about this novel. I’m hoping to gain more of an insight into this interesting character!

Talking as Fast as I Can by Lauren Graham

All of the Gilmore feels brought me to reading this book. I love Lauren Graham and hope this book is as hilarious as she is.

Some lovely books to delve into in the next year – I’m so excited to have another year of reading and reviewing books coming my way. I hope you all had a fab festive time and got any books you were wishing for!
