#currentlyreading: May 2017!

So, because I was participating in the Tome Topple Readathon last month, and it was smack bang in the middle, I decided not to post a #currentlyreading update. I had so many updates about my progress and what I was reading for the readathon that there wasn’t much point. This month, however, I’m back and I’m gonna update you on how much I’ve read so far this month. I’m pretty pleased!

Books I’m Currently Reading

Geekerella by Ashley Poston

I’m taking this one slowly because I feel like I’ve been on double speed reading books recently! I think I’m enjoying this read, but I’m also feeling a little bit unsure about it. I’m about half way through this read, so hopefully I’ll feel more certain as we get nearer the end.

Reasons to Stay Alive by Matt Haig

Not originally on my TBR but I was wanting something completely different and went for this non-fiction read. It’s been on my radar for a while now and I’m really glad I’ve picked it up. Hopefully it’ll be the powerful, palate cleanser I need.

Books I’ve Already Finished

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

A fantastic read that I finished reading at the beginning of this month. It’s such a powerful story with great, valid messages everyone should here. See my review for more info.

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

I listened to this book on Audible during some recent long journeys and really enjoyed it. So happy to be back in Laini Taylor’s fantastical worlds and hearing her beautiful prose. Review soon!

A Court of Mist and Fury (ACOMAF) by Sarah J Maas

The hype for the third book drove me into reading the second book and I’m so glad I did. I enjoyed this read much more than the first – as most people I’ve spoken to have! It’s really set me up for the third book that I hope to get to next month. Click here for my review.

The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon

My second Audible choice for the month and I’m so excited to have read this book. I wasn’t expecting to pick this up, but I was completely drawn in by the snippet I listened to. I enjoyed this WAY more that Everything, Everything and was getting serious (500) Days of Summer vibes and it was just… lovely. Review very soon!

Books I’ve Still to Get To

Kids of Appetite by David Arnold

I’ve not really been feeling this read during this month, which is a shame because I’ve been wanting to get to it for ages now. But I keep picking up other books instead. Also, I put quite a few contemporary books on my TBR for a change, so it’s had competition. We’ll see what happens.

Furthermore by Taherah Mafi

I think I’ll delve into this one next, after my two current reads. I’m super curious about it, but just haven’t put my hands on it yet. I’m not sure why – but I’m getting in the mood for some middle grade, so fingers crossed!

There we have it – I’m pretty pleased by how much I’ve got through this month. I feel like I’ve got myself into a nice little reading schedule and I’m loving being back in the reading game. I really hope I’ve not just jinxed myself haha!

Hope your reading month is going well! Any good recs?

See ya!
